Help with login

I'm very new to EQemu (but not to everquest), as I just heard about it from a friend, and have a quick question . I've followed the directions on the readme over and over again, replacing the eqhost and creating a username (obviously) and everything. But whenever i try and connect, it says "Cant connect to server, please try again shortly". If i try to enter again, it freezes. Im running Win98 on 600mHz comp with cable connection if thats any help.

P.S Is the EQemu login supposed to look like the regular EQ login screen? Because thats what i get. That may be the most retarded question to some of you, sorry.
