2 legit 2 quit -or- how do I tell the difference?

Hiya.. I'm new to the EQEmu scene (obviously ;)

I've been browsing the forums and I see a lot of legit vs. illegit and I can see some people have some pretty strong feelings on the matter. I've bounced around on a few servers and honestly... I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out exactly what is meant by 'legit'.

The servers I've been on have all allowed summonitem commands, is using these considered legit? I haven't seen very many drops at all on any server and have yet to find a working quest... up until now I've been under the assumption summoning items is ok. Or is it just 'don't summon planar gear at level 1' maybe? Or am I seriously supposed to loot for PP and make banded? What about helpful clicky items like dains ring and eyepatch of plunder?

Other then Gm leveling what exactly is considered non-legit? As i mentioned I bounce around servers and would hate to piss somebody off with my yearn for uberness ;)
