Default Aggro Rad. Too High?

Well, after lots of fiddling around I got my server up, able to create characters, buy some basic items off the npc's etc etc. Still needs some work on the z cord. for some of the npc's but fairly decent. My one main problem now is Aggro.

If I attack one creature, the rest of the kos creatures in the entire zone aggro on me. I was looking at the db npc's through EQAdmin and saw that the aggroradius for all npc's and everything that's living is 85. Is that high? If it's not, then there is something else I'm missing. Would like some help on where to start so I can remedy the problem.
