Patcher going down for a long time
Posted By Hogie at Sun 22 Jun 2003, 4:14 PM

Im taking the patch server down until we redo the system. I am tired of it being leached by everyone (Hackersquest & our users) that have not helped pay for the bandwidth for it.

The new system will have a username/password and a log of everything you download, so if we ever get sued by Sony, I have all these nice logs of people that they can ban accounts on.

If you do have problems with this, why dont you do what we have always said, and KEEP ANOTHER EQ FOLDER.

Probably reading this wrong, but this is scareing me. Now i still play EQlive and Emu. By reading the top, Will i get Banned on Eqlive for playing Emu now? I do keep a backup/directory for EQlive, and as for paying for the bandwidth. Why not have popup adds on the website to pay? Sure people might get antsy about the popups but theres also downloads of popup blockers. I enjoy both Eqlive and Emu. But i would chose Eqlive over emu anytime. I thought this was very confidential on EQlive. That it shouldn't be notice threw EQlive playing the Emu. Looks like it is if your keeping logs. Btw how are you going to keep logs of us who play the Emu? Useing our ip address? or are we going to have to set up a real account on Emu just like EQlive? Better yet, use our EQlive account to access Emu?

Little more info would help please.
