Not that you'd care, but I pretty much fit into that group. I have friends who have been hooked on evercrack for years, but have never played due to complete disdain for the notion of "software as a service." I came across EQEMU and saw it as an opportunity to see what all the fuss was about. As a seasoned EQ player, you'd never be able to understand how difficult it is for a person to learn about EQEMU. There was/is little documentation on the site geared for the person who has never played eq of any form. I didn't yet own a copy of EQ, so I didn't even know the relevent questions to ask. I showed up on IRC and basically asked, "What do I need to play EQEMU?" You can imagine the responses that I got. I would have to check my IRC logs to be able to correctly credit the kind soul(s) that finally gave me the information that I needed (buy the trilogy for $20, no need for a credit card to install, game is somewhat playable but not like live!). OTOH, I remember exactly which ppl were dickheads to me (this was a time when 95% of the ppl in #eqemu were devs or are now). Those same people are still dickheads, but that's no big surprise.

Just thought you might find the perspective of a person of whom you speak to be enlightening.
