I'll probly get flamed for this, but
This is just an idea.
Why don't the EQEmu team stop trying to keep up with live because all it does is break stuff.
We can all have 2 EQ folders one for real Online play and one for EQEmu play.
If they pick a patch (Say, the last patch) and only work on getting everything to work with it. Make a final 8.0 version where they put all thier time and effort into making a fully playable emulator then we could spend more of our time playing, modding, grouping instead of updating our databases, loosing use of certain things not having a regular server to keep the same character moving up the chain of level, having th elogin break all the time by us patching.
It would make a ton of sence to just say, STOP !! From this patch on do not patch again. Keep these files in a safe place. In a year we will all be playing EQ like no bodies business. Tons of custon content and a steady play area.
It gives everyone a fine point to work towards as well as aim for. If v8.0 was going to be the final "patched" model of the EQEmu even though you would still work on it to get the bugs out ect. It would be a step ahead of where we are now.
I can log on to any server now, but what is the point either everything changes or we move onto a new database, or the character info changes and we need to have a server wipe.
Well thats my 2 Cents.
