Red face Network EQ

Hi,
I'm trying to setup a closed system for my home and family. Not for open use on net
Here is what i have 3 good computers... and 1 box ( 2.8 ,1 gig ram ) that I can load the EQ program and files to.
1# Question is what opreating system should the box have installed on it?
2# Is there guide on how to set this up? I see mostly for going through to EQemu sever .
Any help i could use as I have some progaming but very very rusty on it (from old Amiga days )
Thanks,
Xana

Well, the specs on that first box are great for the server itself, as you will be able to run it and play the game at the same time since your only going to be running 3 connections.

As far as a guide goes, there was one up that had minilogin support built in to it, and it was easy to follow, but I belive that the author pulled it off of the wiki. You have to follow my guide and the guide for the minilogin it setup a lan type server. Its a pain and can cause some issues, but if you take your time and read each step, choosing what you must do and what you must not do, you should be fine. I am in the process of integrating a minilogin to work with my guide to help eliviate some of the issues most people are having.

It should be up in a couple days or so. Hopefully anyhow....

Default Not loading in Dos

Hi,
In the windows server setup guide for the PEQ database . I'am at "Project EQ" .I have down loaded both file's and now at the next step. Funny when I try to use start->run-> and type in cd\peqdb I get file not found. Now if i go under "Dos" it works fine up until I type in source load_system.sql. there is where i get error #2 i have tried it source load_system.sql; and still nothing. I think I'm having the same trouble as the newest thread "Server Setup". I have downloaded all the programs and versions as outlined in guide.
Any ideas what I might have done wrong or missing?
Thank you,
Xana

you don't just type that in the run box, you need to open up command prompt (cmd) first. Then you shouldn't have any problems

Windows XP will work fine as server for you - i always use one machine for a server and clients log in via the the LAN clients.
I've had no problems even with P3 machines, so you could probably save your best PC's for the clients..

The easiest way to get started would be to go here:
http://eqemu.sesmar.net/index.php?op...d=57&Itemid=39
And download Cavedudes installer. Notice you can choose one from any of the three current database - Which one is better? it's all a matter of what you want , you can research before you choose.
Once you have all this running - then you can go and look for updated database, executables, etc, source them in. If this doesn't work for you, I can show you other methods - but they will be more complicated. Cavedudes installer is what got me started in all this, and I was just as green as anyone else when I started.

Find out exactly where CVS put the files from the database. I belive they are going to C:\peqdb\peq_db. Simply search them up in Windows explore to find out where they are. When you load up cmd prompt, navigate to that directy and type in DIR. This will listt all the files in the part of the directory tree you are in. You should see several .sql files. Once you see them type in the mysql -u root -p command and then follow the rest of the guide doing create database peq; ect.....
