It's an acronym for a Bill in Congress. Go to http://slashdot.org to read about it; they're always talking about it. Basically it was going to put encryption in *ALL* (and yes, I mean *ALL*) digital devices to make sure that copyrighted content could only be played by authorized equipment (imagine every chip made having it, or at the very least every hardware device made). IMHO it would make the general-purpose programmable computer a thing of the past and replace it with a set-top box. The acronym was replaced with CPTPBA or somesuch when it was introduced. Some other Senators decided to can it (for this year) when they got 35,000 or so faxes saying not to even think about doing it. What wil happen next year? Who knows. All I know is after that little gem of a bill I get a real bitter taste when I even think of spending money on anything Hollywood produces.

P.S. Whenever you read about "Senator Disney", they're referring to Senator Ernest "Fritz" Hollings (SC), the author of this bill. Word is he got something like $300k from Disney last time around, hence the nickname.
