Default My EQ file

When I go to Properties from the EQ shortcut Icon I find eqhost.txt

The content of that txt file is what has been posted earlier. I'm fairly sure that the problem is with my eq host directory because I've put in 1 letter for both station name and password to see if the error message would change. Granted I am definitely not a computer specialist so I'm glad to try any and all fixes presented.!!

So should I make a new eqhost.txt file on my computer's notepad?? I'm not sure because it wasn't in the guide that I downloaded.

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...akka=PlayGuide

That is the wiki guide you should be using. The eqhost.txt file is really simple. All you do is go to your everquest directory and look for a file called eqhost.txt. Then double click that file and it will open up in notepad. Then put in the following information:

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

Make sure that you remove everything else that is in that file. Then click "file" and then "save" in notepad (don't "save as"). This will automatically save the changes without having to worry about it adding another file extension onto it. That is all. You are making it too complicated. You don't have to have any other host files anywhere or edit any of your other host files.

The only thing that concerns me is that you said you right clicked on your eqemu shortcut icon and went to properties and it listed the eqhost.ini file in there??? That definitely shouldn't be there lol. The only things you need in there are:

Target:
"C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

Start in:
C:\Program Files\Everquest\

There shouldn't be anything about eqhost.ini in your shortcut.

The above suggestions have all been done. As for the eqhost.ini... I believe my post said eqhost.txt I don't even know what a .ini is *-P

C:Program Files\Everquest\

Not

C:Program Files\Sony\Everquest\

??

I tried to take the sony out of it but I get an error ...

Not Valid make sure that the folder exists and that the path is correct.

"C:\Program Files\Sony\Emulator\Eqgame.exe" patchme

In the target box but everytime I try to apply I get this message

Invalid make sure the path and file name are correct.

Default Narrowed it down

It seems in that Target sentence

"C:\Program Files\Sony\Emulator\Eqgame.exe" patchme

The only problem it has is changing "Everquest" to "Emulator".

Start in: "C:\Program Files\EverQuest\"

Target: "C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

I've tried these both, but I get errors when I take out the word "Sony". Is there something I'm missing? Or are these extensions incorrect?

Did you change your Everquest directory name to "Emulator"? If you didn't then there is no reason to try setting that name in the target. The target should be whatever directory you are wanting to run the eqgame.exe from. If you have a directory specifically setup for the emulator and you named it "Emulator", then you have to edit the eqhost.txt file THERE.

This process is pretty straight forward and simple. If you installed Everquest Titanium to the defaut directory, it should either be:

C:Program Files\Everquest\

OR

C:Program Files\Sony\Everquest\

That is what you would set in the shortcut for the "start in:" directory. The most important part of the short cut is that you set the target file as:

"C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

OR

"C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

Try this:

Click Start
Click Search
Click For Files or Folders
In the search field, type: eqhost.txt
Click Search Now

(These directions may be slightly different depending on which version of Windows you are running. Just find the file search and search it.)

Let it search and then post here with every directory name that it finds that file in. Then repeat the process for the eqgame.exe file and post those directories here. This will tell us exactly where you have this installed and if you have more than 1 installation of your EQ directory. Once we have that, it will be easier to tell you exactly what to do.

just go to your EQ directory, right click on eqgame then select send to desktop (create shortcut)

then right click on the shortcut on your desktop and add a patchme to the end of it.

You need the Titanium edition of EverQuest. The eqhost you found from 2002 is for older clients. If you have Titanium, make sure you are editing eqhost.txt and not any other file.

It should already have some other stuff in it that looks similar to this:
Code:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998
but with sony's servers in front of Host=

You need to change that to eqemulator.net:5998

Then do the patchme method as stated in the guide. Good luck.

Nope. Still only Titanium but there is some work going on to get the EMU to work with SoF, but when that will be ready is anyone's guess. Trevius is doing the lion's share of the work and it would be up to him to try to guess at when SoF might be playable with the EMU. I would expect it to be on the order of months.

Whew, thanks for replying, cause all of the posts I have read about thi EMU, was back around the beginning of 08 and before, and i thought that SoF came out later, so Titanium is what everyone had, and SoF wasnt out yet so it could have been compatiable with it.

But now I know. Thanks, spent a long time trying to figure out what the problem was with Error 1010, and now i know
