Could you set up the forum to notify her(or others) when people viewing this forum hits a threshold?

That would probably be a waste of time. I believe they are still working on a new permanent solution to the LS issues. Hopefully we can get new news on it soon. Until then, things will probably remain as they are. It all depends on when KLS hears about it being down. I don't know what her schedule is like, but she normally gets to it pretty quickly.

I dunno, kind of brings back memories for me honestly. I decide I want to play for awhile for some night and "Oh no, the server is down!!11one!" Ah to be 16 and have that level of nerd rage again...memories. Which is why I'm here I suppose. There is something to be said for authenticity of the experience, aye? :-P

Anything to give me an excuse to loop all the eq midi files can't be that bad.

LS is down? Nah can't be, the loading music is still going . . .

Same. Went nuts entering a whole bunch of passwords, because I recently returned and only logged on once (a couple days ago) before trying today, and thought maybe I forgot which one I used! Changed password and everything, before checking here..

What causes this to happen? Bad codes or just random error?

Edit: Could it have anything to do with that security breach thing I am seeing at the top of all of the forums? Having a conflict in the codes that they skewed to try and fix an earlier problem...?

It isn't directly related to the password hacking issue. But I believe it is a result of a MySQL config change that doodman made shortly after that happened to prevent some other hacking related issues on the host box. I don't know exactly what he changed to start this issue happening, but it appears that when it happens, the Login Server completely looses contact with MySQL, so it can't access the database for users to log in or for servers to fully connect to it.

The only way to resolve it currently is direct interaction from KLS or doodman as they are the only 2 with access to the host right now.

Again, even though this issue is much less common right now, I expect it should be completely gone when the new LS solution comes into effect.

Spoke to KLS last night (April 28th) and she said she can't get in right now with SSH.. So hopefully the server is fully rebooted soon..

What is SSH?

Just wondering.

Glad she knows about it though. Really been enjoying the House of Hinge server. I like how they have the progression set up there. It's quite lonely though ...sometimes.

I may not return to PEQ The Grand Experiment and my under appreciated paladin which I can barely solo with.

Back to SSH ..what is that?

SSH is Secure Shell

And even if she couldn't get in last night, it was probably only while the whole site and LS were both unreachable. Normally happens when the box gets overloaded from Apache. But, since the forums are running smoothly now, she should probably be able to get in fine with SSH again.

Usually, you can use SSH clinet software to connect your server running Unix or Linux OS...
