You don't need the patch with your CPU since it's an Intel. The patch is only for AMD CPUs. There's no issues with multicore Intel CPUs with Windows - it was only an AMD issue since it wasn't addressed properly and making programs bog down in anything older than Windows Vista (i.e. WinXP, 98, etc.). If you have SP2 installed for WindowsXP, it should have the fix automatically installed with it.

Also might want to use
Driver Sweeper and clean out old remnants of your videocard drivers before installing them again. And make sure your chipset drivers are up to date.
