Aha! Bloodscon you are totally correct. Today I noticed my first direct heal from my cleric, and noticed that Chloroplast had just faded in mid battle. So for the next few battles I purposefully right clicked Chloro off at the start of the fight, which caused the cleric to heal me using direct heals every time!

I guess for the time being I will just remove the slow regen spell line from my shaman, but hopefully that proves to be the clue to a more proper fix.
