When using the SVN method, I too got some errors, but I just kept trying and eventually it worked fine. Mine was different than yours though...mine just seemed to timeout for no reason. I'm not sure what your errors mean.
If nothing else, you can get the files manually in a .zip file. You can go here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/eqemulator/files/ and navigate down to EQEmulatorMapFiles > EQEmulator Map Pack 1.0 > and then grab both the maps.tar.gz and new_maps.zip. Then dump them both into your maps folder.
