I actually did find the cause of this issue, I guess there was some sort of file or files left in my EverQuest folder that would direct me to The Sleeper server only in my C:\Users folders that I had to delete after doing a fresh everquest install.

I keep an install of the base eq client untouched, then when I check out a new server I create a new copy of the base client specifically for that server. Saves messing around backing up files.
