faction_base_data is a table added by revision 9137. It's relatively new and its part of the switchover to the client based faction ids, which is why when this update runs, quests are backed up.

If you're creating a new server fro scratch, I believe the peq quests are already converted.

I'm a little worried that the update process will try and update the quests again, which would be bad.

Akka, will that be an issue? I know we discussed this, not sure where we left it.

That said, it looks like you have other issues to be resolved first, but use me as a resource if any remaining faction issues come to bear.

Thanks for the explanations and input folks - it seems all my issues are around the install / update of the DB then. With that, I am going to stick on the clean install and work on that one.

I had SQL CE edition on this new machine (from a VS install) and thus removed all of that, but still got complaints that the MariaDB / mySQL path was not set. I then uninstalled MariaDB, copied the installation binary back into the folder, and am running again. Now it started the Maria DB install but the eqemy_server.pl script runs and says 'no database connection found - running without' - but hey! At least it is running and installing the maps, binaries, etc now! Will update this post as things progress.

So update - had to add the PERL environment variables manually but NOW it all instaleld and worked!

So I guess moral of this for anyone searching for any of these errors or such is to install on a completely clean system (and maybe some manual updates as well ie. env vars).

Thanks for all your help!
