Try using public login servers, minilogin is unsupported.

Acidburn, you seem to have gotten some wrong or pre concieved notions about installing and running EQEmu. I would suggest taking a step back and reading the following posts.

Compiling binaries Note the first part in read and bold!

Setting up a server

Both seem quite well written to me and should not need much, if any aditional information to get someone started. More or less if you still have problems, then you most likely do not have the required knowledge or skill with computers, software and networking. Go learn more about computers and software in general.

I will never get tired of refering this for my own sheer stupidity, and lack of socialism. I see where you want to run a server for yourself and no one else.

My Setup

Personal Server

This is what i did to run a completely local server with no strings attached. Works great for me, sorta, missing a couple things that the big servers on eqemu login have like most of the current bugs worked out. I have found a solution to the being alone part. I start up two characters and talk to my self

Good luck which ever method you choose to follow, both allow you to run the greatest program the world has ever seen, next to PONG of course!

Default Kk

ok i went over all files and they all seem to be correct, when i run publiclogin this is what it gives me:
Quote:
Using database 'login' at localhost
============================
EQEmu Login v1.03P
http://eqemu.sourceforge.net
============================
LoginServer.ini read.
Server mode: Standalone
Login server listening on port:5999
then once that ic open i run World.exe and i get this:
Quote:
[Status] CURRENT_WORLD_VERSION:EQEMu 0.5.3-DR2
[Status] Loading variables..
[Status] Loading zones..
[Status] Loading items..
[Status] EMuShareMem loaded
[Status] Loading items from database: count=26679, max id=68199
[Status] LoginServer.ini read.
[Status] Loading guild ranks..
[Status] Loading addon.ini..
[Status] Loading EQ time of day..
[Status] Reboot zone modes ON
[Status] Deleted 0 stale player corpses from database
[Status] Deleted 0 stale player backups from database
Breaking linux compiles....
TCP listening on: 127.0.0.1:9000
World server listening on: 127.0.0.1:9000
Connected to LoginServer: localhost:5999
Login server responded with FatalError. Disabling reconnect.
Error message: 'Incorrect version'
127.0.0.1:5999: TCPConnection::RecvData(): Error: 10053
i dont think i have a older version of public login, will i need to patch EQ with live maybe ? i have no clue why i get that error everything else seems to be fine. only thing i get wrong when i use minilogin is that once it is loading from the server select screen to the chatacter select screen it finishes loading then i get a black screen like the character select screen is about to pop up then bam is dissapears.

Woah! hit the brakes!

The last release of publiclogin only worked up to EQEmu 3.3 or something. Your only choices for a login server are minilogin(unsupported) or the login servers the developers run.
