This should be in off topic unless it's all talk about EQEMu.

I will say something though. I've spent tonight workign on getting a server working and I want to let people know what the server is going to be like when it's done...

It's going to be a role-play enforced server.

This means NO out of character chat. Tells are okay, but tnothing else. No discussing stats, real life, or computers.

All conversations within the game between characters should be done as "say". No tells, no guild chat, no ooc or shout. Roleplaying will be rewarded with exp/quests.

Anyway, that's it for my rant.

I may as well take a second to get some opinions about the server ive been working on.

I'm working on a (mostly) non legit PvP server. I plan on adding an entire new set of epic quests / weapons, along with tons of new gear.

the only problem im having is that i want to get rid of the unwritten law that says melees (particularly warriors and rangers) are the gods of eqemu.

i very much want to see casters getting into the fray but as near as i can tell that would only get slaughtered.

so far the only simple solution i can think would be to make custom caster gear with big AC, but i'm not sure that wouold be the way to go ...

i need some ideas that would help me get some balance ghoing .. without having to go into the DB and nerf every hard hitting, fast slashing, caster bowing weapons that melees love so much ...

Skip that and implement new caster spells instead or right click items for casters only. Casters AC has a low cap as do their defensive skills in general. Trying to make a caster into a melee class will DEFINITELY get them killed.

Just my opinion.

what sort of right clickys would you suggest? Just low cast versions of their own spells or entirly new spells?

Right click magic debuff, poison debuff, fire resist debuff, etc. Things to make their spells land easier. Doesn't have to be a huge amount. Not sure what levels you're looking for. It all depends on the levels of the characters involved. I've never found EQ to be really balanced for PvP. It's all equipment driven really. As far as the high end game goes, I never played higher than 46 on Live so I'm not sure of the impact that AA's had on it. Hence why I'm shooting for a non-pvp roleplay server.
