What happened?
Ok, this post is basically a goodbye. EQEmu no longer satisfies me as ALL of the servers are now:
Level from 1-65(or even worse, higher), waste hours on a character you will be able to do nothing with after your 65.
I orriginally played on EQEmu to duel and have fun (which i did on an EQEmu Test server) but now, all of the servers seem to have:
1) Epics locked out
2) Based more on leveling to 65 which after you've done it once and reallised no-one wants to duel, there are no mobs to raid to get loot you cant summon, it gets old and you leave, making the play life of EQEmu about 5 hours.
Have fun killing them random NPC's and good luck getting people to stay interested in this Emulator after they hit 65 and reallize they did it all for nothing. I reallise the server is still in development and it will be MUCH harder to develop a server without any feedback.
Greenleaf was the best server on EQEmu at the time of this post, shame they didn't expand to give current level65's something to do other than sitting in GFay killing guards, watching people bitch about how gay leveling is.[/u]

Each server has its own game ruleset, its own community... I dare say, its own personality. Many of the servers aren't run by the devs but by other EQEmu fans who haven't written one line into the server code. Blaming the devs who simply write the server code really doesn't make any sense to me.
Something else you mentioned is you spent the most of your time on the Emu test server. Which, last time I checked, is non-legit. EQ is an RPG, and part of the fun in RPG's come from character progression over a long term. When you use #level to get that instant 65, what have you accomplished? The first character I made on the test server, I actually leveled it up to 30 the old fashioned way -- granted the xp multiplier seemed a lot faster than Live but still I earned my levels. I only #leveled it to 65 later to test a few things, which last I checked is what a test server is for.
If you have a good idea for a server, you should've pitched it here or if you have the resources, run it yourself.

Another, much, much larger part of EverQuest Live, is Alternate Advancement, Equipment, Raiding, Skills, Grouping, Adventures, Augments... and the list goes on.... ALL of which, you can't do on the Emu servers as they are either not supported, you could solo any mob you wanted or you could get loot / skills within one sentance.
I'm not saying this is bad, infact i think the devs have done a top dollar job on the Emu server, especially as the client is always changing and its not supported officially.
Point being: If people wanted Live, they would play on Live, as I am one of those people, i approach EQEmu servers with the main aim of FUN in mind; spending 5 hours soloing to 65 because no-one wants to group, then realllizing there is nothing to do once your there is nothing to do when your there is not my idea of FUN. The most fun i had on EQEmu was dueling in the arena / GM events involving slightly better loot to give you the edge from one point of view (attack) where other people would have the defense loot. They don't make them like they used to!

The is no point running a server for 3 hours a day (tops), which is how long i play EQEmu as it will not get any people playing on it.... the rest of my time is spent working or playing on live. Respect to the servers already up but they just aren't my, and alot of friends that used to play EQEmu (emphasis on 'USED TO'), cup of tea.
The more feedback you guys can get back the better is the way i see it and losing 10% of the people giving feedback because people don't want to kill random npc's on a 3 minute spawn timer over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again isnt good and im simply trying to resolve this problem

It all depends on what server you are on. If you play on a semi legit server and sumon all kinds fo uber items this kind of time is simple to do adn not very fun since you go out and solo stuff 30 levels higher than you til you hit 65.. A legit server is much more fun, and takes a lot longer since you actually have to work at it adn have a risk of dying.

It all depends on how you play I guess. I run a minilogin because I then have total control of the game...some fun things I have done include setting respawn time to a week for all mobs, and genocide (kill everything) in the zone which sometimes takes days. Few things are more fun than emptying a zone yourself. I also play as close to legit as possible, without the time sinks (ie, I use #zone, #heal after fights, etc). Level 45 DE War and climbing... I do have the XP multipler set to .25, as gaining XP playing solo is WAAAAY too fast to experience all of the zones at certain levels. When I played live, level 65 was a destination and I grinded it out as quickly as possible. Now, I get to enjoy all of the zones at or near their intended level and have explored nearly every level 45 and under zone, most of which I missed on Live.
My next char will only advance thru the expansions as intended. IE, I will play classic only until level 50, kunark until 60, Velious until Sleepers is cleared, etc. all the way thru. I want to take character magelo snapshots before going to the next expansion to see how the characters progress. This time, the XP modifier will be set to 1 but I will delevel myself if I have not finished an expansion with enough good gear to advance to the next.
/shrug, EQEmu is just like any other game...its all what you make of it. Not getting caught up in the drama of live servers, ego, and competition have made EQEMU one of the best and most fun games I have ever played

Hang around till i get my server the way i want it. Its gona be classic eq max level 50 gona have raiding zones and quests. And gona impliment pvp in some zones. So like if you want to get from RV to HK perhaps you have to pass through kithikor which could be a pvp zone and have pkers lurking around. Who knows. Gona put in corpse runs and such make it as close to Classic EQ as possible.
