Default 1017 on 98?

i tried to set up my own server, got this message, and i checked easily 200 posts (been going through this site for last 4 hours =/ and well apparently all my information is right, its just i keep getting the error, and i am tired of Regular EQ and just wanna be uber as all hell and kill somethin like sleeper or Ralloz, by me self or preferable with my friend (RL sits next to me not lan connected tho)

After i gave up on my own server, i gave in, and deleted all that i had gotten, started fresh, and hit the big button for retards, It still don't work =/ why am i so stupid?

1017 is a general error that it did not connect properly...

You really need to tell us specifically what you did, but here is a guess.

Did you patch to live EQ, then run the EQEmu patcher? The EQEmu patcher should patch several files, if not it isn't installed right (most likely)

I can't say beyond that, you didn't give any configuration information.

Did you run patcher? You need to run eq's patcher first, then run eqemu's patcher. The link to eqemu's patcher is in my sig. After running patcher, try again. I don't know if you tried that or not.
