Default trying to make first merchant

ok guys im not seeing what im doing wrong im tying to make a new merchant for my starting area. this is my first time and i have searched for hours with no luck.

i went to the merchantlist table and added a new merchant id 27 slot 1 item 13002

then i used npc editor by georges to make a new npc in the area and gave it the merchant_id 27

then i used his merchant_editor to load the merchant and look up the items so i could set in new items.

but it says there are no merchants in the zone.

am i doing something wrong or missing a step? the npc is spawning in the zone. i have not loaded up to see if it has a buy list yet but im guessing if the program cant see it as a merchant then the game will not also..

anyways what im looking for i guess is mabie a basic walkthough of making a merchant.

Ok, here's I do it. (DL the recent version as of 6/2/0 version .04

with my npc&loot editor - with Field Utilities/ npc creation tool, create an npc
who is race:you choose one, class=shopkeeper, and any of the other fields you want. Now remember his/her name and then close window.

Clear zone text box, and type in npc name, hit search. Look at the row data and get familiar what was created. This npc obviously exists, but is not in a spawngroup, and needs to be spawned. Run eq and go ingame.

This npc needs to be spawned now.
In game and in your destination zone spot, type
#dbspawn 335053 <--- npc id from my tool
#npcspawn add <----must target the npc first - creates spawngroup!

zone out and back in. If npc does not show, hit #zone repop
With my merchant editor, assign items.

That's all

FYI there's a spawn editor now built into the npc and loot editor, as well as the grid editor. I'm depreciating the standalones.
