I'm going to keep this post very simple and to the point... Why not appreciate the work and time they've put in so far, instead of expect more? The way I see it, they've built an awesome emulator, and they've done it for free. They work their butts off in their spare time, and all they want is the respect they deserve.

You can't possibly expect them to give up their real lives for a free open source project. It can be hard enough juggling a real job with real life. Throw a 3rd endeavor into the mix and you can have chaos. It saddens me how many people are being such children about it. So I repeat, appreciate the work and time they've put in so far, and find a real life until the next emulator's out...

Well, What I'd have to say is.. I definitely do appreciate this project and its advantages... But, the thing is, a project is a project, it is there to be finished 99.9 percent of the time. I'm not saying I don't respect that people have lives, and hell I have one too, but if there are issues with the production of the EQEmu, why not either put out a final version *bug accepted.. nothing is bug free* or at least inform people completely of the whereabouts and how they can improve the developement if the dev team does give up. Also.. I kinda have a side question. How come EverQuest can't be emulated just as EverQuest Live? I understand the database issue, but it definitely would be great if we had the database and have the ability to just "add" onto EverQuest so to speak.. as in, have a expansion pack of some sort to convert it to the EMU.. I'm pretty darn sure we're eons from this concept, but then again I'm just saying =P. Anyways, in short I really do appreciate the work going into this project, but, this instability is gettin kinda annoying (not complaining - its a fact) and HackersQuest's Emu is doin better with the patches that have been recently breaking EQEmu.

In Short: It would be nice to have a final product.. a product as it is is, working with patches to come, a bare-bones database included, in which people can improve on their own and distrubute via the website.. Pretty much an EMU that is finished, but just barely.. An EMU that doesn't need new features.. Just the ones as it does, besides Spawn/Item updates

But I guess I'm just a little anticipated, and yes, I'm unintentionally holding my breath.. Save me!

I had to read that a couple times to understand it, not sure if I still do.. As far as I know the project isn't breaking up, and if it was i'm sure they would tell us. As far as a "final product" or "complete database", I really have no idea what you mean by those.

The database is one of the things people work on, the data has to be collected, merged, they don't have everything. Realistically I think the only place that does have a complete database of everything is Verant, and feel free to ask them for it, godspeed to ya. The database work is not done by EQEmu, they write the emulator itself.

I'm sure they have their reasons for not just releasing what they have working now as 0.3.4, and i'm sure it'll be worth it. So just chill out and trust their judgement, it got them this far so they obviously know what they're doing.

When they're done with 90% of the emulator and have all sorts of kickass tools for them, I think we'll all look back on the waiting as a trivial matter that was childish to go crazy over. Happiness is the key to innovation with volunteer developers. Let them find happiness and they will return when they have little else to do.
