Simply tutorial creating spawns

Yet again, I am stuck looking at tutorials that assume I know what this, that or the other thing is. I was wondering, is there anywhere, a simple tutorial on how to create and add spawns to an area? I have literally tried everything I can think of, and can't possibly imagine the condition of my database in doing do. I cannot get the spawn to respawn, or to follow a grid. I have managed to make the grid according to the directions in EQEmu guidebook 1.3. I can create the spawns, but thats as far as I can seem to get. Could someone please point me to a tutorial that doesn't assume I know anything. One that doesn't say, "Now you need to add it to spawn2" because as soon as I see that I am stuck unless it tells me how to add it to spawn2, and can't use the tutorial. Or would someone be nice enough to run it through quick here, the list of commands, in order, and a super brief description, so in the future I can modify the directions to suit my needs.
