Default Ports & IP Address

Okay, I have a complicated home setup that's not allowing people to log in from the log-in server. So I'd like to take a stab at what I think is needed.

I need to open ports 9000, 7000-7xxx (xxx = Number of zones)

That should be it for ports (right?)

So under the configuration I should be able to do this (vs. IP Address) eqemu_config.xml:
<address>eq.myserver.com</address>

And under the loginserver.ini:
worldaddress=eq.myserver.com

Does that all sound plausable?

Yes very... seeing as thats the correct setup.

Whatever you put into the <world address> section is what address the login server routs you to when connecting. (to my understanding)

Ultimately I dont think ur gonna need to change your etc host file; just the eqhost in the client directory. If your able to login to the login server, its most likely a server address configuration error rather than a host address (on client computer) error, imo.

One thing id say try... is set everything to 127.0.0.1 to try and connect on the same computer... there should be no issues there. If your able to connect on the same comp as the server... that just means theres a network problem...
either with the current addresses in the xml file or perhaps something on the network. Dont have many other ideas, but hopefully if that works, you can solve the network issue.

Also: based on your no-ip rout... if people are connecting from outside your house, youve gotta use the external address for all addresses that would usually be the 192.168.2.x etc... just stating since i couldent see your config files... you may already have that set up.
