Default I feel stupid.. Please help.

I currently a while back got my server updated to 2099. Now 2141 is out and I can't remember for the life of me how to update the server and keep all the players files on it.. Do I make a DOS PROMPT back up and recompile everything with 2008+ like I originally did my server or is there a way to upgrade this without going through all that mess again? However, if I did make a recompile wouldn't that cause problems and over-write certain NEW files? And if this 2141 makes changes to my database how would I go about keeping all my files I already have and player files without loading my database and erasing important stuff?

Please tell me step by step if you can how this all works. Thank you very much.

Recompiling the source does not affect your database. Update your source folder via SVN. Once you're done with that you just copy the new exes into your server folder and source in the SQL updates from /source/trunk/EQEmuServer/utils/sql/svn/.
