Default Updated: Wiki Compiling guide for 2008 Express Edition

I've updated the Wiki guide:

Compiling the EQ EMU source code with Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Express Edition
http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=VS2008

Hopefully this will help eliminate some of the problems people have been having lately.

I just compiled Rev 557 (Instance Branch) following the Wiki guide with the latest PEQ database and all is perfect.

Enjoy!

I was using your walkthrough Zandig, could you explain step 8 to me in depth? I'm not sure what you mean by "Use the following files for your build". (run them? put them in a folder?) Everything else was pretty fool proof.

Thanks

Yes, just put the new files (overwrite them) in your main EQEmu folder (where you run the main program from). Don't forget to back-up your 'eqemu_config.xml' file or re-edit the new one to match your settings.

I hate to clutter a useful thread with nothing but praise, but this absolutely deserved a thank you. I've been screwing up quest files and database queries for awhile now and I can finally set my sights on sabotaging the source unintentionally thanks to this guide that taught me everything from start to finish =)
