Default Problem opening EverQuest for first time...

I installed all of the CD's and
Now Change Target

From: "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\EverQuest.exe"
To: "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme -w

But when I click to open the icon i get the error "Please run EverQuest.exe" I Havn't updated the game at all...

I also updated the server information...so kinda clueless here please help?

I'm having same issue and I have successfully played on eqemu servers before.

Get rid of the quotation marks and try that. Also make sure the Start in: directory is pointing towards the location of your EQ directory. If you are using Vista and maybe Windows 7, it is best not to install anything in the Program Files directory. Windows inflicts some bizaare usage rights that could be causing problems as well. I don't have the -w for my shortcuts and everything works fine here. My shortcuts listed below.

K:\EverquestSOD\eqgame.exe patchme
Start in: K:\EverquestSOD

K:\EverQuest\eqgame.exe patchme
Start in: K:\EverQuest
