I was wondering if anyone knew of a game engine that could use the same type of character model files and zone files that EQ uses. I would like to test something out but am wondering if there is more than just EQs engine to run under.

Thank you.
No problem,
you are in for a lot of work... this has been going on for like 6 years
A basic combat system has been implemented allowing characters to attack each other.
A stats module has been implemented for handling character stats.
Network streams are now handled better when they fail, preventing network problems from causing the server to lock up.
Operations sent to clients to indicate actions have occured now work correctly throughout.
