here is my issue;

I have a server set up that I can log into only on the host computer and others connected to the lan. I have a seperate internet connection in the house that I am testing to resolve the issue, and upon trying to enter the server (from server select screen) I get the 1017 error kicking me back.

This is the .dbg log

The eqemu_config file on the host comp looks like this:

<?xml version="1.0">
<server>
<world>
<shortname>Atlah</shortname>
<longname>Atlah</longname>
<!-- Only specify these two things if you really think you need to -->
<address>192.168.1.34</address>
<localaddress>192.168.1.34</localaddress>
<!-- Loginserver information. -->
<loginserver>
<host>eqemulator.net</host>
<port>5998</port>
<account></account>
<password></password>
</loginserver>
<!-- Sets the shared key used by zone/launcher to connect to world -->
<key>some long random string</key>
<!-- Enable and set the port for the HTTP service. -->
<http port="9080" enabled="true" mimefile="mime.types" />
</world>
<!-- Database configuration, replaces db.ini. -->
<database>
<host>localhost</host>
<port>3306</port>
<username>root</username>
<password>*******</password>
<db>peq</db>
</database>
</server>

Anyone have any idea what I could do? I'm behind a new router now, but the firewall is disabled on both the host computer and the router. It's verizon westell router model 7500.

Additional note: the computers outside my lan can connect to other servers.

If you are connecting your server to the Public Login Server, then your config here is probably the cause of your issues:

<!-- Only specify these two things if you really think you need to -->
<address>192.168.1.34</address>
<localaddress>192.168.1.34</localaddress>

Note that "Only specify these two things if you really think you need to" basically means "don't set these". :P

Try replacing that with this:
<!-- Only specify these two things if you really think you need to -->
<!-- <address>192.168.1.34</address> -->
<!-- <localaddress>192.168.1.34</localaddress> -->

That will comment those lines back out so they aren't used. See if that helps.

Problem is resolved.

I forwarded all the ports on my new router, and that seemed to fix the issue completely.

I'm having the same issue as above with my server.

I can connect fine on the LAN but any outside clients get 1017'd.

i set my server in a dmz, forwared all the ports, turned off windows firewall and even set up a dns.

nothin has worked so far.

anyone got any tips?
