I feel really silly at the moment - I had a server up and running under Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop and was making some good progress. Suddenly a few hours ago, I stopped being able to make. It said:

make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

whenever I try. I thought maybe the SVN I was screwing around with messed it up, or that maybe my SSD finally burned out. So I committed to formatting both my desktop/server and my laptop. I got Ubuntu 10.04 up and running again on laptop, installed the necessary packages per Sikkus' guide, and when I tried to make, I got the same error. I never inspected the make process in much depth and stink at makefiles anyways so I'm just wondering what happened here.

What has changed since then? Is anyone else having trouble compiling?

Just found this non-obvious thread http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=36297 gonna try it out

I tried the above link and http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=CMake and am having no luck. Is there some more recent guide to building the source that I'm missing here?

You installed cmake and the libraries mentioned on the wiki page?

Can you explain what step you are having issues with and what errors you are getting when trying?

I tried again fresh on my desktop instead of linux, am getting this error on cmake

Would you like to see advanced options? [No]:
Please wait while cmake processes CMakeLists.txt files....

CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:70 (MESSAGE):
Could NOT find ZLIB (missing: ZLIB_LIBRARIES ZLIB_INCLUDE_DIRS)
Call Stack (most recent call first):
/usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindZLIB.cmake:39 (FIND_PACKAGE_HANDLE_STANDARD_ARGS)
CMakeLists.txt:95 (FIND_PACKAGE)

The cmake process then appears to continue. The GUI version says my project files may be invalid

I think I figured it out! Needed to get zlib dev package.
