Since i was SO nicely asked to move my question here. Ill ask it. Ive posted my info and done some digging and i found out that ive got an incorrect client version. Ive updated EQ through the default thing. BUT as we all know and love the patcher is down. So am i screwed? cuz if this is the case then requiring an ONLINE patcher for LAN play is very messed up.

If your client is returning 0xyaddayadda, you've got a problem with your client... not just the version, but there is a problem with it. If you can play on live with your live version, it's probably fine once the new eqemu server is released.
