Lol you missed the point i know how software works a really i dont under stand what you said...................
also by what i mean is evertime to log on to Everquest (the Eqemu servers not live) it will load up 2 zone.exe on the players computer its all the server has to do is send the x y z points of players and spawns like it already dose and this might fix the LD problems
Ever play UT (not 2003)?
the server runs just like the way i am talking about the only info the server send is where the chars and spawns are at
this is just a tought i am trying to learn C/C++, cvs and pHp so i can help with the emu ....

Currently, zone.exe needs full access to the database. I don't want to poke a hole in the firewall and give out my database logon to everyone who plays on my server, so this solution won't work for me.

encryptions anyone? I doubt any eqemu users are smart enough to crack an encryption. :)

First, I do like this idea, but I dont see it happening. Sure the world could send the item/mob data to the individual player's zones, but it would have to send all the item data or else a player wouldnt be able to use any items they didnt have when they zoned in. IE they bought an item. That in itself would make the server run to a crawl if the host didnt have a massive bandwidth source. Next is security. The zones would have to be closed source, or else what would be the point of a legit server if the user could simply compile an alternate version of the zone that gives the user anything he wanted. And if it is closed source a lot of people (including myself) wouldnt run it. Running closed source programs from unrealiable sources is just asking for trouble. My definition of a realiable source would be a company that provides the software and I can take them to court if it does anything adversely without consent. Assuming their License agreement says they are not responsible for any damage their programs cause. I try to avoid these programs. Not saying that anyone would intentionally release something that would screw up your system, but the possibly alone is a good reason to not run the program. Although software from any company is never 100% safe, the odds weigh heavily in your favor if you get your software from a major retailer as opposed to a bootlegged dime-rack CD at a non-name internet site.

Hes thinking of like a P2P version of EverQuest, unfortunately the zone server information is usually ~20 megs+ in a text file, its not something easily transferred through the net. Then ofcourse you have security issues, it just wouldn't work, unfortunately.

C++ Is Extremely Hard to learn, Personally I think the people who memorize it are kinda wierd lol, But if your going to learn it go ahead, I tried to once, didnt go so well
