Thats 1/2 correct.. you cant make your server say 7.1.4 because it wont work on the loginserver. We control which versions do and do not work so its a little harder to make a custom version number....

The version is set locally by the person compiling the code. They can make it say 7.4 if they want. It simply means it was customized.
