Try the Zebuxoruk server it has a lot of custom content and has the solo player in mind with its design. Plus a bunch of nice guys running it. :)

Sounds like you patched to live (which is a no-no, I made the same mistake myself a long time ago)....

I have had the same problems intermittantly...

I have had the same problems intermittantly hooking up to the Darktide server, so I don't think it's just Zeb. Maybe a eqemulator.net network thing? I don't now. But it is an off and on occurance.
