Default Possible?

It has come to my attention that with EQEmu and the downloadable version of EQ, that you can create a completely free game. Plus, if you manage to get hosts, it is not difficult to server farm.

This is my idea for a new way of selecting classes, I'm just wondering if it is possible? Are you able to completely rewrite classes and give them different spells and such, or can you only slightly modify them?

My thought is this in character creation: the player picks a race, and then a discipline. A "discipline" is basically a fighting style that the player can use. There are three disciplines: Rogue, Ranger, Warrior. Someone with the Rogue discipline gets the skills of a rogue and can backstab. Someone with ranger get ranger skills and can track. And someone with warrior skills is a master of plate armor, shields, and also can mend (think of a fighting style like an SK or pally).

After you pick a discipline, the player picks their religion. A different religion will give you a different set of spells. There will be 8 different sets of spells: necromancer, magician, cleric, beastlord, shaman, bard, wizard, enchanter, and druid.

Therefore, players will pick one of three disciplines (classes) and one of eight religions (spell sets).

Is this possible? How customizable is class creation and the such? And if you could...how could I do this? Editing database or coding?
Thanks...
