Default mobs don't aggro

I had recently setup my own server. Everything seems to be working fine, however the mobs that should be attacking you aren't. They con correctly, but just go about their own way. Only if I attack them will they engage. Is there something I should be setting. Not sure where to start. A little help would be appreciated.

Maps would be a good thing. :p

Another thing is that I found that most factions are incorrect, and may take a bit of tweaking. They normally don't let Ogre Shadowknights run around in Kelethin last time I remembered, heh. You basically start off in a semi-netutral faction and then slowly work your way across the faction hits as you start hunting and killing things. For instance, with PEQ's database, I was conning dubiously to Orcs in Oasis - without killing one. After a few kills, they were outright attacking me on sight.

Another thing to consider would also be the database you could be using.

It's pretty easy to get the case wrong for the maps folder (I can't recall which is correct, and I'm not runnning a sertver atm due to having to be a good example to my kids who won't do anything except play games.... the trials of parenthood lol). Try changing the folder name from "maps" to "Maps" (or vice versa) if you do have the maps "installed".

Not all versions of winzip handle tar.gz files well.

Well, I tried changing the maps folder to "Maps" and nothing. Does something need to be tweaked?

I pretty much used the setup guide for 0.7.0 and installed everything correctly. Editing the eqemu_config.xml file is the only thing I may not have changed.

I may try to reinstall everything. Thanks for the info though.

my first post yay...

just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted in this thread.
i too had the issue with not being able to see target with spells and mobs wouldnt agro whatsoever.

i also thought i had correctly installed the maps. my issue turned out to be i had inadvertantly added a sub-maps folder (example: C:\EQEmu\maps\Maps).
i simply dragged the Maps folder out and then select all the maps-files themselves and dragged all the files back into the main maps folder.
(example2: C:\EQEmu\maps)

it fixxededed the probalemo!

thanks again gents!

The maps/maps double folder was also something I noticed a while back. Not sure what/how that happened.

It's because the maps package on sourceforge creates a maps folder of its own. So, if you extract it into your existing maps folder, it will create maps/maps.
