Default Connection Issues..

Hi, I've tried reading through many posts and i keep coming to a dead end. I have set up a server and I run into problems where I couldn't connect.. I used Doodmans NAT idea.. and I was able to get passed the 1017 error when I tried to connect to my server.. but that leads to my friend not being able to connect to my server with the same 1017 error saying to patch.. and if i change it back, he can connect and I can't.. I use DMZ also and that didn't help either.. if anyone knows what might be the problem.. i would appreciate it.. i tried making this my last choice.. i hate bothering people with problems =\

if the server is at the same network as your eq-client you need to add a line to the hosts.ics file (just search for hosts it's at windows\system32\driver\etc i think)
it should look like

127.0.0.1 localhost

now just add your servers

internal-ip external-ip

eg. 192.168.0.2 dsl-084-056-156-045.arcor-ip.net
and it should work
