>why not make the / commands for all users to use instead of GMs only? I mean the / is much easier to hit than hitting shift then 3.

The reason is because the / require the character to be GM flagged. Now, we could have everyone GM flagged and all, but then the /who list would be inaccurate (it would say everyone is a GM even though they are not) and some other bad stuff would occur as well.
