Default Local EQEmu - How do you enable fighting. I hit attack and n

HI guys, new to the EQEmu I've got it all configured I can log on create character, everything but cannot fight any characters. Are these features disabled in local emulators? is there a way to get it up and running? please let me know it would be alot of fun to go and try out the new equipment.

actally its working fine but you has zero melee skills you either ned to train on it ro use setskill to be more able to hit.

How do you train a skill? Please excuse me but I'm a rather newb at the game aspect of eq.

Baltar,
If your an GM type #help and then check each one (#help GM, #help vprivuser, ect.), one has a command #setskill .... and #setallskill ....

No big deal, but the command is actually '#setallskill'. I'd hate to have him sitting there retyping it with an S over and over
