Geared Toward Multiple CPUs?

Someone explained to me when I first started reading about EQEmu and the software that the code is geared toward multiple CPUs. Is this true? If so, if I compile say 6.0DR2 from source on that machine using Windows 2003 Server, will it compile to use all of my 4 processors or will it look at it as 1? Would using Linux make a noticeable difference? I've searched the forums and only found one post remotely close and he was asking if his server would be sufficient and I realize it is, just curious about the coding and a little more technical aspect of things.

its geared towards many cpus because it uses a lot of threads and a lot of seperate processes... nothing special you need to do.

Thank you for the reply. The only thread I'd found was one asking if his machine was sufficient. Good to know there's nothing I need to do to take advantage of it.

I would think if you hosted MYSQL on another server it would be very laggy ?
I never tried it but I would guess it would eat up bandwith like crazy...
anyone done this yet ?

Did it sound like I was talking about hosting my mysql server on a seperate machine? If so, that's not at all what I meant. The box in my closet has 4 processors, it's a Compaq Proliant server.

I tried putting my mysql server on my webhost's machine when I first started with eqemu and it took forever for world.exe and zone.exe to load. I did it just to see what would happen.

that's normal...mysql database should be in the same computer, or at least in the same LAN (it is not recommended anyways), or it can be way slow to load, there are a lot of data.

We have our lan set up so that the eq databases are on my machine, but either machine can run world.exe and the various zone.exe's.

I have not noticed any major lag, or to be more precise, the lag that comes from running the worldserver and zone servers, plus 2 clients, on a machine with 512RAM is worse than the lag that comes from running the worldserver and zoneservers on the second machine, running the mysql database and 2 clients on the fast machine.
