Default peq and cavedude's database

I see a lot of people saying they are using both cavedudes and the peq database, but there are no guides on how to use them both simultaneously, just one or the other. There's also an option on the 3.52 installer to use both, does that configure/source it so that they run simultaneously?

I believe it just installs both on your harddrive and you can switch between them via your .xml config file. I don't believe it is possible to use them both at the same time because some of the tables have different fields.

For example, this isn't exactly the problem but a hypothetical notion to give you the idea, let's say you have an "items" table in the PEQ database and it lists things like the size, weight, damage, etc... But, in cavedude's database these same things may be called something different and/or cavedude will have other coloums, like color or something, that isn't even in the PEQ databse. Or vice versa. They are not compatible.

From what cavedude has told me, he has a great deal more zones filled with monsters than PEQ. It would be really interesting to see what you got if someone was able to extract the data from one database and added it to the other. I was interested in pursuing this, but due to the complete lack of any kind of response over on the PEQ forum, I gave up hope. From what I understand, people get data for the database from logs built with a tool you run while you play the real EQ. I am not sure if PEQ lets others see these logs to make their own databases.

I would suggest visiting cavedude's forum on his site and looking him up on IRC. He is very friendly and helpful. With his help I got the Plane of Knowledge books in my server allowing easy transportation for my players.

Ichijin is usually around too, he is another great guy that can help you out.

Does Cavedude's DB have the POK books working automatically or did you have to edit something to get them working? Currently I'm using PEQ and after reading this I am wondering if I should be using Cavedude's DB.

No it does not. I just added them with his help. Some of my players are having trouble using them though. Seems impossible, but most of us when we click a book, end up going to PoK. But one of my users in particular, when he clicks a book, he gets teleported to the zone safe spot. I can't figure it out, seems impossible to me, but it happens.

I am thinking that perhaps there was a record in the database already for the book and it needs to be deleted. I put all of mine way off to one end in the database because I have no idea where, in the future, that PEQ will stick the records. I didn't want my additions and thiers to interfere with eachother.
