Default Fresh Titanium Install Problem

I hope I am not repeating an answered question, and if I am I am deeply sorry. I spent several hours searching and trying different solutions but none has changed anything thus far. I purchased titanium and put in a fresh install on my WinXP machine and followed the wiki on how to connect to eqemu servers. I can login and can see different servers to connect to, but when I click on connect, the whole thing crashes to desktop without an error. When I run it again, the button to connect to last server connected refers to what I tried to log onto. I have tried editting the eqclient.ini file to change the videomode, but as I have not logged on to a server, it had no video settings. I tried putting some in but with no changes in the outcome. I have disabled any firewall on my computer and reset my router also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even just a "try searching for *blah* thread you moron", would be wonderful. I am just stuck and am not sure what I am missing. Thanks!

Sometimes, people who might know what to answer you are not around, so you have to wait. double posting may really upset the forum administrators.
There are certain ports in your firewall that need to be opened for eqemu. If you want to see if this is your problem, use the "DMZ" feature on your router, for your eq machine.

Yeah, I didn't mean to double post. I realized after I posted the first time that I had done so in the wrong forum, so I was trying to correct that, sorry

Did you solve your problem yet? you can connect with DMZ option active, then you only need open some ports on your router.

I am working on getting in to the router now to try to find the settings. I am at my family's house, and they are out of town, so I'm having to do a bit of research to try and get into the router.

Shouldn't be too complicated - what is the brand name and model router you have? maybe someone here or I have the same type and can help you.

To JUST play on an Emu Server, you shouldn't have to open anything on your router. What resolution are you running on your computer? Someone else recently fixed there problem by changing it to 800 X 600. Try changing resolutions and after you get in, try changing them to what you were set at and make sure that the refresh Hz settings are correct!

Actually I had to update the firmware on my linksys router to be able to play I kept getting dropped or I couldn't get past the login screen.

But my router is an older one the BEFSR41 going on like 6 years old now.
Now I can play just fine.

But yeah you shouldn't need to open any ports to just play on a server just to run a server.

Thank you all for your help! Sorry for the lack of update, but I had 3 days of open-closings at my job. Anyways, I was able to install Titanium and log on to eqemu through my wife's computer, so it wasn't the router. I think I may have an issue with my cd-rom, because I noticed a couple of the files were different on her computer than were on mine, so I copied and pasted those files and it works fine now on my machine. I guess it just didn't install all the files correctly on my computer. Thanks again for all your advice!

If you have a working install on one PC, you can drag and drop the whole thing to the other PC, then make the shortcuts - EQ does not need to be installed.
Make sure you have the DirectX 9.0c (or what ever they call it ) installed.
