Default Pet Fix?

KLS: (cbodmer) Pet aggro changed, owner will no longer gain more aggro from proximity than the pet

Great , so now people on my server afk exp even more!

This is how it SHOULD work, and the way it works on live concerning pets....

If a player is standing in 1 spot... and afk... and an NPC spawns that is KOS, it should attack that person... and CONTINUE too attack that person, even tho the pet is attacking it....

The NPC should only stop attacking the player , when the player backs up...

Once the Player Backs up... the NPC will begin to attack the pet...

This was a Terrible fix... people leveling up everywhere while they are afk at work or doing something else... no need for Macroquest anymore with this one lol !!!

Please FIX this as I specified above, thats exactly how Live works with pets..

This is not an attempt at a derail or even an initiation to another "popcorn eating event".

KingMort, certainly KLS has done a lot for the server code. She has contributed and written a lot more server code than alot of other people, myself included. If you disagree with any code any of us developers have written, thats fine. You should communicate your view point effectively in a post. But certainly KLS deserves to be treated with alot more respect than this. This amounts to a public flogging of a dedicated and respected member of our development team.

Please don't make this personal. Just start a discussion and rationally post your argument and any supporting facts that support your argument and I'm sure others will weigh in on that discussion and perhaps a developer, like KLS, will read that discussion and perhaps changes can be made.

Lastly, you know I like you and we have talked in the past so this isn't me tryng to make an enemy of you either.

Hey now, no need to get upset(both of you).

I agree mort, that's how it should work but even before this change that's not how it did work. From what I recall, this change had to deal with who the monsters aggroed on when a pet ran around and got aggro on it's own, not dealing with combat once it started.

I don't mean to start any drama over this and I hope what I expressed isn't taken as a personal attack towards you, Mort. I just don't think it was fair to vent your frustration at KLS. Anyway, I'm moving on.

Yeah WildcardX... Please don't start any drama hehe... I love KLS he's the PWN.....

I am just being EXACTING and DIRECT with whats going on... I have fully tested this on live... and thats exactly how pets / players / npc's should react....

I was simply stating my findings....

I was upset the change made it in... because thats not how Live reacts at all... I stated in my original message exactly how live reacts with pets and stuff. So hopefully you guys can get this one fixed.... May I remind you i've been with the Eqemu project for MORE than 7 years now...And I support it 100%.... So I never intend on dis-respecting those who put forth effort toward it's advancement....

No offense to KLS like I said folks.....

KLS is one of the BEST Devs i've ever had pleasure of talking too on this project...

I was just a bit upset that this EVER reached SVN..... Pets on live will always agro the Player.. if in close range over the pet...always !! .... Until that player backs up... then and only then will the NPC attack the pet.....

I am sorry for being blunt KLS , you are awsome bud.. and so is EQEMU... I wasn't trying to attack anyone..

Sounds like I read Kings post the wrong way as I am sure now he meant no disrespect towards KLS and her contributions as a software developer. I guess I'm a bit defensive these days considering all the crap that has been flung in the developer teams direction over the last couple months.

Guess I need to settle down

The way it works on EQLive is that an NPC Will always attack a PC over an NPC if there is a PC in range, regardless of how much aggro the NPC has.

This applies to NPC vs NPC's as well as NPC vs Pets, even if the Pet has more aggro than its owner, if the owner is in melee range the NPC will attack the owner.

Just clarifying how it works on live.
