We've been through this before, and apparently, they (the devs) can't release the login server source code because they didn't write it and aren't licensed to release it. So essentially, we won't see a Linux login server until someone reverse engineers the login server (again).
Actually, to do it right, you need to have two people (who've never worked on the login server code). One person to examine what the current one does with certain inputs and write those actions down and the other to design and write a separate open login server that will implement those actions. This would be a true clean room implementation.
I'd be willing to work with someone in either of those two roles (though I don't have a lot of time).
