Default problems with MySQL

ive been tempted to start up an EverQuest server using the guide located on this website, but have currently been incapable of doing so due to MySQL...
the only MySQL file that will open and stay open for me is the MySQL one, when the guide says that i need to have MySQL admin open..
is anyone able to assist me with my problem?

Not sure what you mean. Could you give some more details? What do you mean the MySQL file?

i downloaded MySQL version 5.0 and went to the 'bin' file, ive tried all the files in the folder and none of them aside from the 'MySQL' and the 'MySQLInstanceConfig' work. In otherwords, i open up the 'mysqldmin' application file, it opens but it closes about half a second after. im assuming its not meant to do that? (it also does it with the other files in the folder)

Can you open up a command window and type mysql? What happens when you do that?

types MySQL in the command window and it came up with this-

"Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\Tristyn>MySQL
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 69
Server version: 5.0.51b-community-nt MySQL Community Edition (GPL)

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.

mysql>"

any good? =/, is it possible to talk over msn or yahoo, rather impatient with talking over forums :P

That is all you need. Mysql sets itself to start on bootup by default. Now, just follow the rest of the guide and you should be set. I am not sure where you are getting info about mysql admin. Make sure you are using the wiki in this link:
