Odd. Though I was hoping for something else, the return to the command prompt with nothing is actually normal and indicates that your perl is probably ok. This error has occured off and on with other folks and the only solution I've seen that seems to work is to either copy your emu directory into your perl\bin directory, I think you have to copy the contents of the emu directory in there, not just the directory. Or you have to copy your perl directory into your emu. Not sure which is better. I suspect it has something to do with the environment, but it is difficult to troubleshoot from a distance.

I have copied both the eqemu folder .. and the contents of the folder into my c:\perl\bin folder .. neither worked.

I will try to copy my perl\bin folder into my eqemu folder and try that.

Pasting the perl\bin folder contents into my eqemu folder didnt change anything..

Any other suggestions are welcome but at this point I'm about to format my drive and start over with no other software on the comp other than Windows.

At any rate .. I appreciate all the help you guys have provided and its nice to be part of such a great community. You do incredible work and I'm sure you aren't thanked enough.

Thank you.

Make sure it's not a permissions thing with Perl - I've seen this error with the wrong permissions.
Make sure the user you have for windows has full root permissions

Has there been any further development with this thread? I am having the same problem with the quests not working, and I used the Server Pack installer from PEQ to set up my own private server.

My quests are in "eqemu/quests".

I had this issue for a while. It ended up coming down to me reinstalling the server completely, Perl, mysql and all. Make SURE you have the correct perl version: 5.8.8.822 and mysql 5.0. reinstalling perl should help, When you uninstall your current version, Make sure you delete the C:\perl directory and do a search for perl58.dll and delete all references to that. I would also run registry mechanic or something along those lines to take all the perl paths out. restart your computer and then install it again. This SHOULD alleviate your issue.
