Lose the router. do not use 192.168.* numbers as ANY of the IP addresses. You need to use the virgin IP address for the computer (plugged directly into the internet).

Routers will mess up EQEmu.

No its not useless your router is just useless lol.. it would probably work if you use your real IP address. when you use an IP address other than your "real" ip address, it confuses the loginserver (AOL can do this too because of its proxy).

Some people can get it working with the router if its set up properly to foward the ports, ect but its not something i care to learn about and/or explain. I always tell people to try it without the router and see if it works (it will).

Anytime you want to run a "server" from behind a router you have to know how to configure the router.

[ramblings]
If some computer on the internet tries to connect to you IP, the router has no clue which computer on your lan to send the data to (unless you setup your router). FTP HTTP ect are different, your computer is the one making the connection OUT the router. The IP addresses 192.168.*.* mean NOTHING to the computer on the internet side of your router.
[/ramblings]

Take a look at "the big lan book" post in this forum for help setting things up.

ok, just to let you know, i do know how to setup the router the right way it forwards all of the ports to this box. and btw that box is trying to connect to that server anyways the program is only useless to me, i think it is a good program it just that i want to play lan with my brother but that is not going to happen with this program.

well for JUST lan play, you can put in your Lan IP and it will work. Anyone on the internet on't be able to log in though. If you do that, PLEASE say private or something in your server name. and don't run it when your not playing.

Or just setup your router right, and both internet and lan users can log in. Granted some routers don't like to port foward when you give the external IP of the router as the destination from inside your lan. But that is a problem with your router, not the emu.

I have two cable modems in my house and an extra IP on top of that (3 ip's in all). I like the direct connection on all of my comps because i know i dont have to worry about 192.* ip's or port fowarding or extra hardware interfearing with my connection.
