Umm, perl510 is actually not required unless you are using binaries that are built with it. I run rev 459 with perl 5.8 just fine. But I compile myself on Linux.

You've likely missed a DB update or two that needed to be applied. Check out the svn and look in the utils/sql/svn directory. Take a look at the files there and make sure you have sourced the ones you don't have. Be careful not to get ahead of your binaries because there are files in there all the way up to 447 or so I believe.
