Yep, thought of that one and have run the microsoft patch and the launcher has cpu affinity set to 1. I make sure there's nothing running in the background.

It runs pretty well when it's working. I don't know whether the problem is to do with overheating or something else, so i'm setting a big fan to blow over the surface, which should rule out heat.
I guess i should set up a minilogin server to see if it's software, mebbe the server is flaky? I have a live account still active if i can find the details; when i have the energy i should copy my original folder and patch that to check if eq has the same problem.
