Default Tried and tried...need some help guys

I've downloaded eqemu multiple times always had a little trouble, but I tend to figure it out. I am running vista now and I have downloaded eqemu onto vista once before but I don't remember how I successfully did it. Been on all the forums searched and searched...but still problems. When I open eqgame.exe it opens up screen goes black like it wants to open and then goes back to desktop without any evidence that it tried to open. Tried compatibility mode changes. Tried downloading new drivers. Just cant figure out why it wont just stay open. Any suggestions would be awesome thanks in advance.

If your running Titanium, you probably need to run EQ client in a compatibility mode.

Sounds like a possible resolution issue. Try playing with your desktop resolutions. EQ doesn't play nice with some of the wide screen resolutions or the higher resolutions these days. If you can get it running in something like 1024X768, then you know that is your problem and you can try adjusting it until you get it working in a resolution that is more acceptable.

While I don't think this is your problem, it can't hurt and may even help. I was running vista home premium for a while and I had to copy d3dx9_30.dll file into my eq folder. The thing is my eq would start up then give an error about this file missing. You aren't getting the error, but maybe it is still occurring and your eq is dying. I am now running windows 7 rc, and not having any issues at all.

Just a thought, hope it helps.

Looks like it fails right after it initiates your video. I see it looks like you tried changing your EQ resolution in the eqclient.ini file, but what I was referring to was trying to change your actual desktop resolution. You can also probably try setting the Windowed Mode setting in the eqclient.ini to True so it starts in Windowed mode which should let it ignore deskop resolution issues.

Oh and Syl where did you get that file? did you download it somwhere or did you just have. one more piece of information vista says that eq may have not downloaded correctly and it wants me to verify if it was correct or not. Everything looks normal just kinda odd.

Will also run into issues at times if you copied it from a backed up location. I riped an ISO off my cd since I tend to lose them and anytime I encounter really serious issues I backup my character files / ini file and uninstall and reinstall.
that resolution bug is a real shame since I recently upgraded to a much larger monitor and find myself limited to a resolution aprox 1/2 the size of my screen
