pop in your CD, start up YaST, set up your CD as a source, and search for perl. it should display the version on the CD as a potential package version, and install it. You may also want to uncheck the newer version perl installation to ensure there isn't conflicts first.. If 5.8.8 doesn't come with your Cd, then just do a search for the package in the yast software manager, and pray it's in there. If not, uninstall perl via yast, then go find the source of perl 5.8.8 from perl's website and build it. I'm hoping if you're running linux you understand how to build from source, or if not, know how to RTFM to figure it out since virtually every readme covers it to some point.
